I didn’t come to Hail for residency.

I’ve seen it: the new tech incubators in Hail’s Innovation District. The AI-driven logistics centers. The Chinese construction firms setting up regional HQs. There’s a program — not publicized, not advertised — called the “Regional Economic Contribution Visa”. I heard about it from a Chinese engineer who’s been here since 2020. He didn’t apply. He was invited.

“They came to me. Asked if I’d train 10 Saudi technicians. Said if I did, and kept my business running for three years, they’d consider long-term status.”

  • Step 1: Secure a job offer from a company with a “National Contribution Rating” (available on the Ministry of Human Resources’ portal).
  • Step 2: Your employer must submit your profile to the Ministry of Interior’s “Special Talent Unit.”
  • Step 3: Wait 6–18 months. If approved, you receive a “Long-Term Residency Certificate” — not a visa. It’s renewed based on continued employment and community integration.

Q3: What about family? Can I bring my spouse and kids?

A: You can bring them on a dependent visa — but only if you have a valid long-term residency status.

  • Step 2: Once approved, submit family applications through the Absher portal — with proof of income, housing lease, and school enrollment.
